My Border Collies
Dallas
was
my first Border Collie. He was born on August 21, 1999. We
purchased him from Double
H Border Collies in Dallas, TX, hence his name.
He has brought us so much joy since the very first day we brought him home. It can be heard around my household that "Dallas is the best thing that ever happened to our family!" Dallas seems to have a strong herding urge but has not been exposed to livestock. I hope to give him the opportunity to give it a try soon. He has an insatiable ball drive, wanting to fetch constantly. |
He is a Black & White Rough Coat Border Collie. Dallas has an easy-going, friendly personality. He loves to cuddle with his momma, which of course makes me very happy!
When Dallas became a member of our family, I instantly became a Border Collie Maniac! I just love these dogs as a breed. They are extremely people-oriented dogs with an unprecedented ability to learn quickly and a willingness to please their "master." Since I had fallen head over heels with the breed, I decided that I just HAD to have another! I got on the phone with Jennifer Hoover of Double H Border Collies again and arranged to purchase another.
Along came...
Ginger
is our second Border Collie. We decided to go with a female
this time and I wanted variety, so we went with a Red & White
semi-Rough Coat. She is as sweet as pure cane sugar!
I honestly don't think there is a thing in the world this little girl likes more than a good old fashioned BELLY RUB! Ginger is very eager to please. Her recall is excellent, just because she knows that when she gets back to you she's going to get praise and pettings! |
To my surprise, Ginger is totally different from her brother, but every bit as wonderful! She has no ball drive and barely an interest in toys. She isn't as fixated on having the people in the household entertain her. Instead, Dallas is the center of her universe! When she's in the mood to play, it's Dallas she turns to. Poor Dallas usually has Ginger hanging off of an ear or his neck or one of his legs. Actually, he loves it, don't let me get you wrong. They are the best of buddies.
The bottom line is... I can't imagine life without these two dogs now!!! I don't think I will ever be without a Border Collie in my life. They have changed me and I am better for it.
